Shoaff Park Splash Pad

Shoaff Park Splash Pad
Summer is almost here again. With the summertime heat comes the automatic response to have your children cooled by a pool or sprinkler. Shoaff Park has opened a new economical splash pad for this purpose.

The northside of town needs more public swimming pools. To help ease the shortage of community fun in indoor pools, the new splash pad is a playground facility to help both parents and children to beat the heat.

The new Shoaff Park splash pad design boasts several water sprays. The Thrill and Spill, a Ground Geyser, a Bell Spray, a Fountain Spray, an Aqua Dome and multiple water jets spray a designated period of time to cool the playtime visitors, then shut themselves off again to save money on water waste. The splash pad can be turned back on again, if users so desire.

Touch activated, the splash pad is one of four facilities of its type around the city. Memorial Park received the first splash pad in 2002 and the success of it has led the city to install five more. Two more parks received the ‘sprayground’ last year and two more will be installed next summer at Buckner Park and Harrison Square.

The new Shoaff Park splash pad has been installed adjacent to the existing playground. Northside Pool will be open at the end of May. Families may wish to swim at Northside Pool instead, which is open Monday, Wednesday or Friday evenings, 7-9 p.m., for only $1.
