I took my 2 yr. old to the splash pad that is close to the sandbox. The main splash pad is too big and busy for the real little ones. The one nearer to the sandbox (a driveway or 2 from the main entrance) is less intimadating and she had a ball. Love the post with the automatic turn on for the water shooter.

As for the smokers, shouldn't city council have some sort of regulation as to where on the grounds the smokers can attend to their nasty habit? If the public has to pay for the park there should be some guidelines as to where the smokers are permitted to smoke. It definitely shouldn't be around the actual sprayers.

Dunedin's is 5 times the size with a fence around it and a totally shaded playground and it's free. I live right on the border of oldsmar and palm harbor and it takes me ten minutes to drive to Dunedin's splash park... FREE and no weird smokers or parents hogging the water

This is a really nice, shaded splash pad which runs all year long. It is right next to a playground and a staffed community center and bathrooms. There is also a newer-looking basketball court and some outdoor exercise features on the back side of the community center. Sunshine Park is located in a predominantly Spanish-speaking neighborhood. I am not a Spanish speaker so at times I've felt a little out of my element, but I've never felt unwelcome. This splash pad is usually not crowded since it's in an out-of-the-way location. The splash pad floor is cement, so a little more slippery than the rubber-floored splash pads. A button must be pressed to activate the water about every 10 minutes when the water shuts off automatically. The splash pad is partially surrounded by a series of iron fences with multiple openings. It is surrounded by sidewalks on 3 sides and grass on one side. There are more grassy areas beyond the other sidewalks, and a few trees to provide shade.

When I visit my sister in Northwest Georgia, we go towards the middle of her town; La Fayette and there is a small splash area. Also we go to a bigger one in Chattanooga, Tennessee near a big river. Both are free. There is also an amazing carosel at the latter that is just $1 a ride. The animals are all hand carved and painted out of wood.

Good feedback Lorena and good points around the parking...

Amazing too that parents themselves are taking the fun out of it. Grow up and realize it's for the kids.

Maybe instead of complaining about the cost of parking, might be worth rallying and asking for another splash pad location with all that parking money raised :)

They charge $5 on week days but $10 on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. They really want this to be for Oldsmar residents only, since they can purchase an annual Resident Parking Pass for only $2.68. And there is no way around it since you have to prove you are a resident to purchase the inexpensive parking permit. :( SAD I live very close to it but I'm still in Tampa.
BUT I do not blame them, last time I was there, there were a lot of teenagers and grownups in the water and one even pushed my little one while running, and the adults were smoking with no regard for little or big blowing smoke everywhere and throwing cigarrete buds in the grass. I do not know if they were Oldsmar residents or not but it was very inconsiderate since this is supposed to be a park for little ones. I did not dear to say anything bit I was ticked off when the same smokers put chairs by the splashers and put their feet on them, letting the kids fend for the few left, some people do not have matters and/or consideration.
I think Oldsmar city is trying to get rid of rude people this way, since people that are able to spend $5 to $10 for a few minutes of enjoyment (usually but not always) have better manners.
